International merchants and dealers rapidly
found foreign markets for the vast quantities of commodities
produced by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) that
had formerly been distributed by the centralised command economy
infrastructure of the former Soviet Union.
The international market, however, demands strict compliance
with internationally accepted standards which are not always
concurrent with the GOST standards in force in the FSU, and
in specific trades, individual merchants require goods to be
manufactured and supplied in compliance with their own specifications.
EUROGAL's Commodity Inspection Division provides first class
inspection and analysis facilities in the hydrocarbons, agri-services
and metals trades in conjunction with the Caleb Brett Division
of ITS Intertek Testing Services a global leader in the field
of commodity inspection.
With specific regard to the grain trade, we are GAFTA approved
superintendents, and we established the first GAFTA approved
analytical laboratory in Odessa, saving traders much valuable
time by avoiding the necessity to send samples to laboratories
in western Europe for analysis and approval before the produce
from the vast granaries of the Ukraine could be loaded in the
Black Sea ports where Eurogal's inspectors supervise the loading
and verify the quantity and quality.
Iron and steel have traditionally been one of the largest products
of the FSU and consequently became one of the major regional
exports. Eurogal's inspectors provide verification services
at the manufacturing plants and mills as well as preloading,
stowage and draft surveys at the port of shipment.
Eurogal's expertise in the commodity field includes but is not
limited to, grains and feeds, crude oil and refinery products,
forestry products (timber, pulp, paper), cement, sugar, sulphur,
fertilisers, animal products, fruits and vegetables as well
as finished and semifinished goods. |
